Hamlet Act 2 Discussion Question

Dear Ophelia,

Ay girl, I've been missing you all day. I can't wait until tmmrw, when I have another chance to see my girl. You've been running through my mind all day lol. I don't care what anyone says about you and I, even your father can't stop our love. I will love you a&f, I promise, only if you stay by my side. I know there have been times we've fought, and there have been things you've done that leave me smh. But I won't forget the times we've rofl'd and those nights where I dreamed of seeing you again. You are the only thing keeping me upright, and I need you in my life now and forev. I don't can about w/e stands in our way, I don't know what I would do without your <3. I'd probably go insane. Just stay with me girl and I promise we will come out safe on the other side. Every hour without you feels like years passing by, and when you leave it feels like half of me just walked away</3. I need you now more than ever! Nothing should be able to tear apart our love, not even your family. I'll ttyl sweetie, remember ILY

Love,
          Hamster xoxo :*

Ha ha, that was really funny. I think there is a song coming out of that one. (hint: You should make a song and sing in class again) Anyway, I really like how you made it seem like he really was going crazy. The part where Hamlet recognizes that Polonius is the force that is stopping him I think really seals the deal. If I were Polonius it would definitely fool me.

This was a perfect modern day interpretation of a text from Hamlet to Ophelia. I really "LOL'd" when i read it. I also like the way you gave him a nickname at the end (Hamster). It was adorable in a modern day kind of way... I also like the way you used there parents in the text as well.

I reaaly enjoyed reading this and it gave Hamlet a modern and fun twist. I bilieve if Hamlet sent this to Ophelia in modern day there would be Ophelia could deny him. It also is really convincing that Hamlet is going mad with love. The nickname of Hamster was really cute, and played into the entire idea of the response.

Tim, this is one of my favorites! I feel that this is what a modern love letter (aka: email) would look like! I love that you get across the idea of love in the simple language and abbreviations. I think this example shows us just why Shakespeare's language is so profound and important today. Nicely done!
